Job Description General Purpose of Job :
Provide radiation therapy services to cancer patients as directed by an authorized user (radiation oncology physician) in accordance with the established standards of the department.
Essential Duties :
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Delivers accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy in accordance with the radiation oncologist written directive and maintains legible and accurate records of daily treatment as required.
- Performs radiation simulations procedures and observes patients for unusual reactions and/or events.
- Performs procedures related to physics/dosimetry with and without supervision of the physicist and/or dosimetrist.
- Follows all mandated departmental radiation safety, emergency, and hazardous materials procedures.
- Reports and records equipment deficiencies to the Manager and/or Bio-Medical Engineering.
- Responsible for supervision, instruction and education of students.
- Attends departmental meetings and conferences.
- Assists in nursing related functions as necessary.
- Responsible for coordination of work flow to accommodate quality patient care and patient treatments.
Job Requirements General Requirements • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 60 days of hire.
• Radiation Therapy American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered.
Work Experience • None
Education • JRCERT accredited radiation therapy program graduate.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates ability to work as a team member.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently as needed.
• ViewRay trained - PREFERRED
• MROQC trained - PREFERRED
