The purpose of the Product Manager position is to lead, develop and manage product development on a global scale for a product. The position is responsible for managing the full product lifecycle from opportunity assessment through to product retirement.
This position is externally facing is responsible for developing key relationships and driving alignment across product development, engineering, manufacturing, Executive and SBU’s.
Product Management
- Conducting early-stage opportunity assessment for new products using lean canvas, discovery interviews or other methods.
- Managing a new product through the engineering process by consulting with engineering team and seeking ongoing validation from customers.
- Managing product development road map and plan/budget.
- In partnership with Marketing, creating product marketing strategy and tactics for marketing campaigns.
- Providing product support to customers.
- Defining an approach on how to retire or replace a product.
- Analyzing and monitoring products offered by competitors.
- In consultation with IP Manager, developing IP strategy and plans to all stakeholders including external scanning to ensure awareness of potential and actual breaches of IP.
Stakeholder Management
- Seeking and relaying key stakeholder (e.g. customer and market) feedback and trends to prioritize product development work.
- Acting as the internal educator and advocate for the product including communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborating and cooperating with stakeholders including internal teams (Sales & Engineering) and external customers to enhance product knowledge.
Commercial Management
- Designing the product launch strategy including pricing, launch planning, product brand, positioning and messaging, and finding product-market fit.
- Creating a product growth strategy by focusing on scaling a product in the market, including working with IMDEX channels, growth hacking, scaling methods and Pirate metrics.
- Seeking to maximize the value of a mature product including use of a competitive strategy and sustaining development.
- Consulting with the commercial team and marketing teams to design content for demonstrations and proposals.
- Presenting at internal and external conferences, industry groups or online forums to build the IMDEX brand.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor degree qualification in Engineering/Computer science/Physics
- Experience in change management
- Exceptional strategic influencing and relationship management skills
- Innovative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
Desirable
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar Product Manager position, preferably in Resources industry
- Product Management certification
- Project Management certification
