The Application Delivery Release Lead is responsible for working collaboratively with all participants in the software development team and is supportive of developers and testers throughout the entire SDLC . Under the guidance of the technical leads, architects and Delivery manager, the Delivery Release Lead is responsible for efficiently performing code merges and promotions, communicate status, and ensure quality in all software releases.

Primary Responsibilities

+ Understand the end-to-end SDLC in an agile environment

+ Forward plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio

+ Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality

+ Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations

+ Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates.

+ Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes

+ Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations, as needed

+ Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews

+ Produce Deployment and Implementation Plans

+ Weekly Release Reporting

+ Communicate release details and schedules to the business as required

+ Negotiate, plan, and manage all release activities including code merges, resolving code conflicts, promote code to environments (dev, QA, prod)

+ Work with technical leads, architects and Delivery Manager to understand impacts of branches and code merges

+ Work with software architects and server engineering team to ensure pipelines are configured appropriately for deployment

+ Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors

+ Continually work towards making improvements in the release process

+ Coordinate between developers to resolve code conflicts to ensure correct merge result is always achieved

+ Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists

+ Owns the change management process for the team’s releases – submit changes in timely manner for review and approvals in CAB ; represent the team’s changes in CAB meetings; able to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks

+ Maintain release repository, manage key information such as build and release procedures, and manage dependencies

+ Ability to analyze and troubleshoot deployment logs and understand the cause of deployment failures

+ Work with testing team to ensure releases are tested effectively and receive sign-off

+ Ensure all QA testing, vulnerability testing and signoffs are complete (as outlined by the Delivery manager) prior to deployments

+ Participate in the interview process of prospective candidates and give hiring recommendations

+ Serve on-call duty as directed by the Delivery Manager

Job Qualifications

Education:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent education and experience

Pay range:

+ $99,647 – $124,558

Experience:

+ 5+ years of previous release and/or software development/deployment experience

+ Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle

+ Advanced knowledge of Git lab pipeline deployment, Gitflow merging, rebasing, cherry picking and resolving merge conflicts

+ Previous developer experience preferred

+ Experience in resolving code conflicts, using IDE or git command line or from within GitLab

+ Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion.

+ Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills

+ Solid understanding of project management principles preferred

+ Experience working in an Agile development / Scrum environment

+ Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must.

+ Ability to communicate in both technical and user-friendly language

+ Ability to work as a team player

+ Strong problem-solving skills and self-motivated

+ Ability to lead and mentor others in professional development

+ Expertise with Microsoft Office, Jira, Confluence, GitLab
