Instructor - Fixed Term
The Center for Integrative Studies in General Science (CISGS) at Michigan State University is excited to invite applications for a dedicated educator to join our team to teach physical science courses to non-science majors and science education courses to secondary science education students in both lecture and laboratory settings. Michigan State University is committed to strategically increasing its capacity to provide national leadership in science education scholarship by building our long-standing record of excellence in scientific literacy, curriculum development, and research. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Our goal as related to this position is to continue to teach outstanding science courses for non-STEM undergraduate students in our Integrated Studies in Physical Science (ISP) lecture and lab programming and the preparation of secondary science education students in our Integrated Science Education (ISE) courses.
The initial appointment, with an anticipated start date of August 15, 2024, will be for one academic year (9 months) with the expectation of continuing renewal based on satisfactory performance. Current individuals in fixed term positions in CISGS have an average of 15 years in service. Responsibilities for this position include: 1) teaching ISP lecture courses, 2) teaching ISE lecture/lab courses, and 3) collaboratively developing curriculum for CISGS programming, specifically:
