Fujitsu Research of America (FRA) is inviting applications for a summer internship position in the field of quantum error correction, error mitigation and suppression, and fault tolerance. The internship role requires a challenging mix of creativity, analytical skills, and research background in one or more of the aforementioned areas. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work from FRA’s Santa Clara office. The successful candidate will be pursuing a graduate program in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics with a focus on quantum information processing and error-correcting codes.

Job responsibilities:

  1. Develop novel quantum error-correcting (QEC) codes to publish the work in reputed scientific journals, conferences, and/ or workshops.

  2. Demonstrate the application of QEC codes by showcasing a roadmap on how to implement them on various hardware modalities.

  3. Collaborate internally with FRA researchers and make research contributions to the quantum computing stack of Fujitsu.

Essential requirements:

  1. Pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. program in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Physics with a focus on quantum information processing and error-correcting codes

  2. Strong publication record demonstrated by accepted or published research papers in high-quality conferences and/ or journals.

  3. At least two years of research experience working in quantum computing and information.
