We are working with a leading clothing manufacturing company headquartered in Franklin, TN, with multiple offices across the U.S. Committed to quality, innovation and sustainability, they take pride in their diverse range of custom products and their dedicated team of employees who make it all possible. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join their dynamic HR team.
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and timely for about 2,000 employees nationwide. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills, a high level of confidentiality and a thorough understanding of payroll processes and regulations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in payroll administration.
Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:
Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees using payroll software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable laws
Calculate and input wage and hour adjustments, bonuses, commissions and other payroll-related transactions
Review timesheets, timecards and attendance records for accuracy and completeness
Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity in the payroll system
Process new hires, terminations and changes to employee information, including tax withholding forms and direct deposit setup
Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including earnings statements, tax summaries and labor distribution reports
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions and benefits
Stay informed about federal, state and local payroll tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
Assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution
Collaborate with HR and finance teams to resolve payroll-related discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting
Payroll Specialist Requirements:
At least 1 year of experience in payroll administration
Proficiency in payroll software, ideally AS400 and Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of federal, state and local payroll tax laws and regulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels
High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
