GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE:
The overall responsibility of the Prevention Specialist is to develop implement and oversee a community-based prevention and awareness project at all healthcare facilities, schools, and civic organizations in the Family Abuse Center six-county service area.
Successful applicants will have experience working in domestic violence, community outreach, collaboration with community leaders, project assessment, and grant reporting.
The regular workday for this positional will be within Family ABuse Center business hours, M-F, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for special client activities and outreach events. Work hours cannot exceed 40 hours per week without pre-approved overtime.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, a Human Services field or related field or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
- 1-3 years experience in the field of domestic and/or sexual violence preferred.
- Experience working with diverse people and groups.
- Experience working for systemic changes in the community.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working as both a leader and a team member.
Skills/Abilities:
- Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates experience and ease working with a diverse population of clients.
- Demonstrates effectiveness as a member of a team and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to resolve conflict and provide and receive supervision.
- Demonstrates crisis intervention skills.
- Maintain personal balance while accomplishing multiple tasks that require a variety of skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Flexibility and ability to prioritize job responsibilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
LICENSES/CREDENTIALS:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct the overall development and implementation of the PRevention Project at the direction and under the supervision of the Director of Legal Services.
- Represent the project at community coalitions and meetings.
- Lead ongoing assessment efforts.
- Foster new and maintain current project-essential partnerships to achieve the goals of the project.
- Maintain all records, statistics and grant reports as needed.
- Assist with program training as assigned.
- Coordinate with other FAC staff as needed.
- Develop working relationships with education professionals, community agencies, faith-based organizations, medical professionals, volunteers and other entities that work with or encounter victims of family violence.
- Believe in and act in accordance with the agency's mission statement and goals.
- Document all community outreach work.
- Work with diverse populations and groups.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
