Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Food Service/Dining Experience Supervisor is responsible for supervising food service TEAMembers, meal service and sanitation of the food service department. This position is also responsible for data entry for the foodservice computer system, meal tickets preparation, and distribution. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Works under the instruction and direction of the Operations Director of Food and Nutrition to perform daily tasks.
  2. Provides supervision and support to TEAMembers during the dining experience to ensure residents have a good experience creating great customer satisfaction.
  3. Performs tasks necessary to enable efficient production and service by creating patient meal tickets and swallow labels, including all areas of food deliveries on main campus
  4. Identifies on-going training needs and ensures adequate training of staff.
  5. Responsible for timely and accurate food service delivery to all dining areas.
  6. Responsible for daily scheduling and training of TEAMembers in the Food and Nutrition Services department.
  7. Oversees the clean-up activities after every meal on main campus.
  8. Performs Food Service Associate position tasks, including assisting with special events and catering, as needed
  9. Supervises TEAMembers who serve meals and who are working in the sanitation area of the kitchen and dining rooms to ensure compliance with all job expectations and food safety and health codes.
  10. Participates as a team member to ensure the department goals are met.
  11. Willingly takes on additional duties and/or assignments, assisting with projects and responding to requests as assigned or as necessary.

COMMUNICATION : Must be able to accurately weigh and measure food ingredients required. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language including instructions and labels. Sufficient fluency to be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, provide instruction to others, read and understand labels, read warning signs and/or labels, instructions, policies, procedures or other similar documentation, hold a conversation, participate in meetings, prepare legible, accurate and thorough documentation as required by the job and interact with coworkers and managers effectively. Ability to recognize and interpret non-verbal cues. Ability to respond calmly and clearly to emergencies, heavy workloads and changes in priorities.  

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job while utilizing standard and specialized equipment, including but not limited to the equipment described below. Physical stamina with the ability to perform duties while moving about the work area for the entire shift with few opportunities to sit down and with little or no break between tasks. Strength and stamina sufficient to frequently and continuously lift, push, pull, reach, squat, kneel, bend, carry, twist, pinch, grasp, climb stairs while carrying supplies, assume and maintain awkward positions while performing duties (such as working to maintain equipment) and manipulating various supplies and equipment. Frequent periods of intense activity. Vision within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability and pass a 50 - pound physical exam demonstrating strength and agility prior to employment and from time to time thereafter at Tabitha’s discretion.

 

EQUIPMENT USAGE : Standard and specialized equipment including but not limited to steam jacket, two-compartment electric steamer, Rational Ovens, convention oven, convention oven fan, grill, fryer, microwave, warmer, Buffalo food processor, slicer, food chopper, large and small mixers, blender, food processors, refrigerator, freezers, and garbage disposal, computer and food service software.

 

AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.

 

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Food Service Management preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE: Knowledge and/or experience in geriatric nutrition, preferred. Knowledge of Long Term Care regulations preferred. Management experience strongly preferred. 2-3 Years working in High-volume kitchen.

 

CREDENTIALS: Restricted Shift Manager Level Food Handler Permit required. Must meet Tabitha’s vaccination requirements.
