Database Administrator
S2Technologies, LLC is looking for a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) who will be responsible for the development, performance, integrity, and security of the database systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ingests raw data on the system database. Creates architectural diagrams. Supports applications on databases including at a minimum Oracle and SQL databases including the development, maintenance, and operations through oversight and support database tasks for databases used by legacy, client/server, and web-based applications configuration, administration, troubleshooting, incident/problem support, and patching.
Responsibilities: Database Management:
- Monitor database performance, conduct regular performance tuning, and optimize queries for maximum efficiency.
- Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related tools.
- Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data reliability and minimize downtime.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as database backups, index rebuilding, and statistics gathering.
- Manage and optimize government databases to ensure the availability and reliability of critical organizational [website] actual and future ETL processes to ensure optimization and best practices.
- Apply any coding recommendations and optimizations.
Data Security and Compliance:
- Develop and implement data security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect sensitive DoD information.
Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting:
- Identify and resolve database performance issues like slow queries, inefficient indexing, or resource contention.
- Conduct database capacity planning to anticipate future storage and performance needs.
- Implement and maintain database monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database systems, including schema, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- For management and stakeholders, generate regular reports on database performance, usage, and security compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or Master's degree with an equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
- Minimum 10 years of proven work experience as a Senior Database Administrator, specifically in the DoD Environment
- Strong knowledge of database management systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle Databases
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database performance.
- Knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure.
Security Requirements
- Must possess TS/SCI clearance at the time of hire.
- DoD 8570.01m Certification required (IAT-1) Security+
