Junior Accountant

Compensation: Up to 28/hr. (Based on Experience)

The junior accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, general ledgers and reports. This position will also be responsible for grower and breeder farm payment settlements.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain applicable files for grower and breeder settlements and submit for payment on a weekly/biweekly basis.
• Maintain various general ledger account reconciliations in assistance with monthly and annual reports.
• Update financial data in databases to ensure information is accurate and readily available when needed.
• Provide support for regulatory inspections including, but not limited to Packers and Stockyards Act and third-party audits.
• Assist in development of the department key performance indicators and maintain data to support results, including trending analysis. 
• Collaborates and cross trains with other members of finance team.
• Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.
• Report any animal welfare related issues to management immediately.
• Report any damages to company property.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Associates degree in accounting or related field required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of equivalent experience in accounting related field required.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Demonstrates strong technical accounting skills.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.
• Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload.
• Advanced personal computer skills: Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook.
• Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.
