We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team this summer! In this role, you will engage in the design process of cutting-edge industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities for some of the world's leading high-tech enterprises. As a Mechanical Engineer at SSOE, you will collaborate with fellow Mechanical Engineers, Design teams, and Senior Project Managers to develop innovative solutions for intricate and challenging designs, incorporating the latest design methodologies while ensuring adherence to specifications and timely project completion.   This position is an onsite role that will require you to work onsite each day and be located in the Portland, OR area. Remote or hybrid work arrangements for this role are not available.

The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all encompassing. Each person is expected to help out in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule and within budget in a team environment.

• Learn the creation, refinement, and finalization of designs encompassing industrial and domestic piping, plumbing, HVAC ducting, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, motor control, process chemicals, fire protection, and potentially other mechanical building systems.
• Design, analyse, & calculate heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maintain precise environmental conditions that include specific materials, specifications, and/or implement measures to control factors like temperature, humidity, air filtration, particle levels, etc.
• Apply established engineering techniques, exercising judgment to adapt and modify design concepts while ensuring compliance with company and team CAD standards for quality control.
• Collaborate closely with design teams, Engineers, Project Managers, and stakeholders to address specific objectives, complex features, and propose viable solutions to unique challenges.

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor Degree from an ABET-accredited school in Mechanical Engineering or technically related discipline.
• Experience working with AutoCAD is required. Experience with Revit, Navisworks, PIPE-FLO is a plus.
• Salary Range: $23-25 per year depending on location.
