Job Title: Accounting Manager
Location: Hybrid- downtown Houston
Salary: $105k+ DOE
Requirements: GAAP, Advanced Excel, Investment Accounting

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our world class Investment Management firm. This position requires general accounting, investment accounting and advanced Excel skills plus prior experience in a Big 4 firm and preferably with private equity funds. The successful candidate will be a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and strong accounting background.

What You Will Be Doing

Oversee investment accounting process: capital calls/distributions, quarterly valuations, monthly consolidation, reporting for private equity funds, direct investments, real estate development/operating companies, marketable securities.
Oversee month end financial reporting process: preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements.
Lead annual external audit process: communicating with auditors, preparing requested schedules and analyses, drafting audited financial statement reports.
Perform budgeting and forecasting processes, preparation of budget to actual variance reports.
MRI accounting system, Avid invoicing system, Concur expense reporting, Spreadsheet Server excel add-on for reporting, Advent APX investment portfolio reporting.
Oversee quarterly fund reporting to investors: investment performance, capital calls, distributions.
Manage all supervisory responsibilities: hiring, performance management, termination for Senior and Staff Accountant positions, ensure departmental goals are met.
Participate in review and approval of accounts payable invoices and employee expense reports processed through Concur.
Contribute to analytical needs in other areas, such as treasury, tax, investments.
Analyze large sets of data to accomplish ad-hoc projects as needed.
Ensure all processes clearly and accurately documented using company standard operating procedures.

What You Need for this Position

Required:
Bachelors degree from accredited college or university
5+ experience in accounting encompassing similar duties and GAAP
Proficiency in MS Office applications, advanced skills in Excel, advanced forecasting, modeling using pivots, macros
Ability to create and analyze financial statements.
Decision-making capabilities on budget development and allocation, processes, and procedures
Ability to manage direct reports, delegating tasks and projects
Advanced proficiency in data analysis, technical research.
Preferred:
Certified Public Accounting license-CPA
Big 4 public accounting firm experience
Investment accounting experience
