Job description
Nesco Resource is Seeking a Production Planner/Scheduler for our leading client in West Haven, CT! This person will: Plan, schedule, and process Production Orders for production scheduling as needed. Assist in all aspects of production planning to ensure work is on the floor in a timely fashion to allow smooth flow of processing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not restrictive)- Support Production Planning daily with scheduling and processing of production orders as well as communicating all necessary changes to the production department, sales, customer service and inventory control as needed.
- Update the Daily Production meeting reports with production status notes each morning.
- Assist with the allocation of production orders in advance of planned production date. Timely allocation is to ensure efficiencies and maximum capacity usage of equipment and personnel based on existing orders and materials.
- As needed for all blend orders, request batch processing instructions from R&D and / or QC. Communicate said instructions to the production team to ensure accurate processing.
- Communicate any delays that will affect an order's requested ship date to the sales representative and customer service as soon as information is known.
- Responsible for closing production orders and correcting production order variances on a daily and end of month basis.
- Always maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations. Report any possible safety hazards as noticed as soon as possible.
- Always maintain quality standards by following policies and procedures (equipment, raw and in-process materials, and finished goods). Report suggested changes as needed.
- Assist Warehousing with any issues on production orders.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS - Industry experience in a manufacturing environment of food or nutraceuticals preferred
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel with the utmost professionalism.
- Must have demonstrably strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), to include speaking clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and possess team-based problem solving skills.
- Must be results focused and oriented toward accomplishment of team and organizational goals.
- Ability to handle multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities.
- Ability to stay positive and calm in difficult and/or trying circumstances.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including overtime when needed.
- Language, Computer & Numeracy: Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to type and use 10 key calculator by sight or touch.
