Position overview
Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See the following table(s) for the current salary scale(s) for this position: . The current base salary range for this position is $71,500-$91,000. 'Off-scale' salaries, which yield compensation that is higher than the published systemwide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Percent time: 100%

Anticipated start: Spring/Summer 2024

Position duration: The initial appointment is for 16 months with a possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding.

Position description

The Arkin Lab, as part of the CUBES program, in the QB3 Institute at the University of California, Berkeley seeks personnel to help develop innovative approaches to build on our recent successes engineering the cyanobacterial superfood', Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) for production of pharmaceutical, nutrients, and flavors with application to supporting human exploration of space. We are looking for innovative ways to further improve the efficiency of engineering of this previously recalcitrant organism and determine the best routes for metabolic engineering of these critical products.
