Position Summary/Description:

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ( UNC ) seeks a seasoned administrative leader to serve as Director of Strategic Research Collaborations. The Director reports to the Vice Chancellor for Research ( VCR ) and is responsible for advancing the strategic goals of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research ( OVCR ) by promoting collaborative and team science. The Director provides oversight and implementation of strategy for the 13 pan-campus centers and institutes that are situated in the OVCR and drives university-level collaborative science. These responsibilities include working closely with leadership in university schools/college and pan-campus center and institutes to facilitate research collaboration and execution of strategic multidisciplinary research initiatives. 

The Director also works closely with university development officers to advance strategic research initiatives for large, collaborative efforts that cross-cut campus. In addition, the Director promotes innovation and entrepreneurship by connecting the OVCR with administrative leadership across UNC and by promoting research partnerships with external public and private organizations. This position plays a critical role in developing metrics and tracking the strategic goals of the OVCR and ensuring progress on university-level research strategy.

Education and Experience:

Ten years or greater of relevant experience is preferred, including experience with interdisciplinary centers and institutes.
