Job description
Kelly is hiring for a Lab Technician position with one of our clients in Pittsburgh, PA.
Full Time- W2
3 months contract (Potential to be extended)
$25/hr

Apply analytical sciences to address chemical, physical, and environmental problem-solving efforts, using established methods. The position requires knowledge of instrumental methods, generation of data, analysis and interpretation of data with a goal of understanding sample properties in the context of the problem at hand.
Uses FTIR and UV-Vis spectroscopy as well as optical microscopy to solve customer problems.
Uses techniques such as extraction, filtration, and centrifugation to isolate or concentrate materials for spectral analysis.
Must have good fine motor skills. Patience to handle delicate samples.
With supervision, translates their analytical data generated into meaningful explanations of process and product properties in physical and chemical terms.
Communicates/presents results to supervisor and team members. Communicate results to internal business entity customers with supervision. Generates written reports.
Understands and follow SOPs and safety guidelines, maintains a safe work environment
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
HS Diploma or Equivalent required
Bachelors in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Physics, Material Science, Chemical Engineer or other science-based degree with 2+ years’ experience preferred
Extensive industrial experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
Familiarity with polymers and basic chemistry principles.
Basic knowledge of standard analytical testing methodology.
Hands-on experience with FTIR and optical microscopy is a plus
Preferred Skills
Ability to work independently or contribute to team problem-solving efforts.
Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility and willingness to manage multiple projects and changing customer priorities; must be able to handle on-going changes.
General computer skills commensurate with the technical requirements.
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software required
