Job Description

This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2024. Resume review begins in February 2024.

The focus of this internship will be the development of a synthetic method that is of significance to the organic chemistry community; the work will be targeted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. As an intern, you will be responsible for identifying the optimal conditions for this class of reactions, expanding the substrate scope, and collecting publishable analytical data for the final products. The position will be in the Chemical Technologies group within Medicinal Chemistry.

You will have the opportunity to learn to utilize high-throughput experimentation (HTE) as tool for chemical reaction development and optimization. You will be trained and supported by a team of experienced synthetic chemists to maximize the achievement of this learning process and possibly complete the internship with a scientific publication in hand.

Position Description

You are expected to dedicate most of your time in an industrial research lab setting. You will be performing various organic reactions under proper guidance and analyzing reaction outcomes with cutting edge lab equipment, such as, NMR, UPLC-MS, various column chromatography techniques, etc. You will also be responsible for keeping scientific lab records and summarizing results in PowerPoint presentations to the team.
