Overview C5I Integration & Test Engineering Engineers apply their operational, maintenance and subject matter expertise to the development and testing of Non-Propulsion Electronics System (NPES) for new construction US Navy nuclear submarines. Leveraging the latest in state-of-the-art technologies, expertise is required for VIRGINIA and Columbia Submarine systems. C5I test and engineering opportunities range from initial system design through development, hardware/software integration, test, delivery and integration of the systems aboard nuclear submarines. For delivered submarines, test-engineering efforts extend to the analysis and resolution of fleet identified problems, assessment of obsolescence issues and implementation of NPES modernization programs.
Responsibilities - Task management skills to coordinate, direct, and participate in diverse test evolutions and troubleshooting efforts
- Extensive knowledge of NPES operation and maintenance as well as familiarity with submarine construction and test philosophies
- Installation and configuration, network administration of networking systems, routers, and switches
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and concurrently complete multiple assignments as required in addition to de-confliction skills
- Strong communication skills; ability to communicate with management and technical personnel on various levels
- Strong problem solving skills
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-10 years of experience
- Knowledge, skill, and ability to read and interpret system drawings, diagrams, in relation to Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES)
- Current secret level clearance or ability to obtain one through the Department of Defense
- Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Casciano/Gabriel).
Preferred :
- US Navy submarine experience involving the operation and maintenance of Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES).
- Candidates must be able to interact on various levels with personnel from Electric Boat (Subordinates, peers, Supervisors and Managers, as well as the Customer)
- A minimum of 5 years of hands on experience relevant to maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting and repair of Virginia Class Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES)
- US Navy Instructor Certification
- Fiber optics experience
