Job description
Physician Assistant – Spine
Work location: Texas Health Flower Mound – 4400 Long Prairie Rd, Flower Mound, Texas 75028
Work hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm
Spine Service:
Approx 800 surgeries annually
13 Spine Surgeons
BCBS Center of Excellence for Spine
Aetna IOQ for Spine
Mainly elective cases. Some fractures, scoliosis, tumors.
Here’s What You Need
Graduate of an AMA accredited Physician Assistant program required
3 years PA experience preferred
5+ years in neurosurgery and/or orthopedic spine surgery preferred
Wound Vac, Pain Management, Scoliosis knowledge a plus
PA - current Physician Assistant with the state of Texas and
NCCPA certification preferred
DEA license upon hire preferred
ACLS within 90 days of hire required and
BCLS prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
What You Will Do
Hospital rounds (ICU, IMC, Med-surg, Obs, ER)
Postop Spine Management Lectures to staff via Education dept
Respond to patient inquiries through THFM Spine website
Return calls from Patients and Outside Pharmacies
Maintain supply of Pharmacy Cards, Silverlon and Prineo handouts
Manage Spine DME w Materials dept
Performs H&Ps and writes delegated physician orders including medications, addresses elements of core measures, plans for procedures and discharge.
Actively participates with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate communication and planning; rounds on patients; communicates effectively with delegating physicians, physician consultants and other members of the care team.
Documents actions, assessments, progress notes and plans in the EHR utilizing approved protocols, order sets and navigators as appropriate; addresses medication reconciliation.
Contributes to positive patient experience through effective patient communication and focus on coordination and communication with the multidisciplianry care team; works with varied Patient Experience Teams providing feedback and ideas.
Meets/performs regulatory requirements, NPSGs, clinical and other KPls, safety standards; analyzes performance; demonstrates fiscally sound decisions.
Performs clinical procedures authorized by the physician within scope of training and medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations.
