Job description
The Staff Accountant is a highly accountable and results-oriented professional who is ready to hit the ground running by providing support to the organization’s Finance department by managing daily accounting tasks. Day-to-day activities include, but are not limited to, recording all transactions related to revenue and expenses, and posting them to various accounts. Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant will be part of a small but dynamic team, aligned in maintaining order and transparency for the organization’s finances. The goal of this position is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the Finance department, which is to help the organization be fully aware of its financial condition and to enable the organization to make correct decisions to accomplish long term success and scalable growth.

Performance Objectives:
- Track, monitor and process Accounts Receivable.
- Issue and prepare invoices as needed.
- Track, monitor and process Accounts Payable.
- Enter AP invoices, as received.
- Prepare checks, payments, and bank deposits.
- Ensure that required debt payments (company credit cards, loans, or lines of credit) are paid on a timely basis.
- Perform reconciliations – monthly/quarterly/annually.
- Ensure that monthly bank & credit card reconciliations are completed timely for month-end close.
- Maintain a complete digital filing system to support financial records.
- Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements.
- Assist with audits.
- Prepare weekly receivables reporting.
- Prepare weekly payables reporting.
- Update financial data in a timely manner.
- Ensure that information is accurate.
- Identify errors and/or inefficiencies, propose solutions, and/or communicate to supervisor in a timely. manner if the information is not accurate.
- Assist in measuring KPIs and prepare reporting, as requested.
- Assist in coordinating the preparation and compilation of year-end reporting, financial statements, and. reconciliations for CPA firm, for tax return preparation.
- As needed, assist with other accounting projects.
Capabilities/Key Competencies:

- Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
- Working knowledge of or desire to learn Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Procedures (GAAP).
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online.

Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in accounting and finance, or equivalent business experience.
- Prefer experience in construction industry.
- Prefer 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and financial management. practices but will consider training the right person.
- Prefer experience working with multiple legal entities under different legal structures.
- Prefer experience with financial reporting requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
