Job description

Job Overview:

Performs maintenance, installation and repair of various electrical systems or equipment throughout the facility including motors, relays, conduit, cable, switches, lighting fixtures.

Locates, diagnoses and repairs problems in the electric system. May install, test and repair HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication and power circuits and equipment.

Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and examines and tests distribution panels, controls, circuit fixtures and motors to locate obvious faults such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections and worn motor brushes.

May lead or train lower level electricians and helpers.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Minimum 4 years of experience in the field
• Completion of a trade school or apprentice program.  
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge in use of electrical testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp.
