At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws.

What we need YOU to do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental supervisor in the Division of Air and Pollution Control (DAPC), working at our Central Office in Franklin County.

Here’s the thick of it.

As an Ohio EPA environmental supervisor, you will assist the manager of the Air Quality Evaluation & Planning section with planning and managing the DAPC’s State Implementation Plan (SIP) functions. You will maintain current knowledge regarding the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). You will develop knowledge of new and emerging control strategies and regulations. You will directly supervise staff in the development of SIP documents and ensure the completion, development, and review of guidance and policies for SIPs.

You will participate in work groups with other states, local and federal governments, and external organizations, assigning staff to workgroups and attending them as needed. Additionally, you will supervise the rule coordinator and rulemaking activities for all of DAPC, developing knowledge of rulemaking practices and SOPs. You will be supervising the personnel of the Air Quality Evaluation and Planning SIP Section, planning and directing daily work activities, conducting performance evaluations, and preparing activities reports and summaries.

Qualifications 5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in position involving engineering or chemistry, physics, biology &/or other comparable science field &/or mathematics &/or history &/or archaeology (i.e., latter two subject areas pertain only to Department of Transportation) evaluating & approving complex engineering design plans, conducting most sensitive environmental surveillance activities &/or environmental pollution compliance monitoring inspections, investigating complex public health &/or environmental pollution problems, initiating complex enforcement actions, or assisting in planning, developing & maintaining specific environmental projects & programs; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. as lead worker. Note: Training &/or experience must correspond to environmental area to be assigned. Positions in Environmental Protection Agency's solid waste program, excluding those in solid waste planning unit, also require valid Ohio certificate of registration as sanitarian or valid Ohio certificate as sanitarian-in-training.
