POSITION OVERVIEW We are looking for a passionate and dedicated
Maitre d’ that has proven success in leading a cohesive front-of-house team while balancing a multitude of daily operational tasks. As the lead member of the front-of-house team, a Maitre d’ is responsible for creating the ambience and overall appearance of the restaurant, serves as the primary liaison between the kitchen and dining room and manages an effective front-of-house staff to ensure efficient and excellent customer service. Successful candidates have the innate ability to lead and create a positive work environment for our employees through friendly, caring, and professional communication, making sure to pass down a culture of excellence.
MAITRE D’ RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
- Have full knowledge of our restaurant’s food offerings and beverage program
- Effectively lead a team of hospitality professionals to deliver outstanding service and a superior guest experience
- Serve as the liaison between the BOH and FOH staff to maintain flow of service and ensure correct communication
- Reinforce restaurant policies and procedures and company standards, including uniform, grooming and timeliness of employees
- Anticipate and accommodate the needs of all guests
- Relay any guest complaints to the Manager on duty and assist with the resolution
- Demonstrate strong operational skills with attention to detail
- Daily cash management including assistance with handling payments from guests, managing the cash register and preparing payroll as needed
- Inspect dining and service areas and equipment and storage areas for organization and cleanliness
- Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues to the Manager on duty
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure a smooth and an efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the Manager or immediate supervisor
- Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure or when confronted with impatient or irate guests
- Embody and deliver on exceptional service and hospitality
REQUIREMENTS - 2 years of previous/relevant experience in a high-end, high-volume restaurant
- Relevant certificates, licenses (Ex. Servsafe) or registrations including a valid Food Handler Card (Must have upon hire)
- Knowledge and compliance with food and beverage regulations, safety laws and proper sanitation regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Suites: Outlook, Word, Excel; Open Table and Restaurant POS System
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
- Positive attitude, excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic
- Flexible schedule and be available to work daytime, evening and/or weekend shifts
