Gas Engineering contributes to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of PG&E's gas transmission and distribution system including over 6,500 miles of gas transmission and 40,000 miles of gas distribution pipelines throughout California. The Gas Transmission team is focused on doing the right work, at the right time and at the right cost. This is accomplished by ensuring our records are traceable, verifiable and complete; developing a clear understanding of codes and standards; understanding asset condition and performance data; and leveraging technology to improve the health of our assets. The Pipeline Services Department oversees the technical services function, a field-based organization that reinforces the concept of asset ownership and promotes the healthy collaboration with operations. Specifically, Pipeline Services provides pipeline and some station asset maintenance engineering services to the M&C organizations and the many other departments in the Gas Operations organization. Position Summary This Gas “Pipeline” Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering, technical support, and on-call response for gas transmission assets. The career level engineer will be responsible for supporting the area engineers within the Northern Region. The most qualified candidates for this position shall have an understanding and technical background working with gas distribution and transmission pipelines, pipeline engineering, pipeline construction, and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Position may include (but is not limited to) the following duties- Safety: Be an advocate for safety and lead by example. Incorporate safety into all work activities and products, including field activities and project designs. Ensure that safe practices and procedures are communicated to all employees and incorporated and followed in all activities. Pipeline Maintenance & Operation Support Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of pipeline assets within the Northern Region. Promptly review and respond to conflicts that arise with the gas transmission pipeline. Provide real-time day-to-day engineering solutions, technical support, and responses for dig-ins, leaks, overpressure events, equipment failures, pipeline repairs and other emergency events, include design and implement immediate repairs to restore pipeline service. Manage data requests for gas transmission assets such as class location study reviews, MAOP validation requests and GIS data integrity reviews. Promptly respond to potential pressure reduction situations to insure public safety. Emergency Response Support and participate in emergency response and incident command scenarios as needed. Rotate in the 24/7 on-call engineer assignment. Capital and Expense Projects: Identify and prioritize work to improve the overall health of the gas transmission system. Work closely with other groups within Gas Operations to prioritize project work and ensure clear expectations and achievable milestones are established for all projects. For non-project type work (projects that are not assigned to Project Engineering Design): Ensure all project work complies with 49CFR Part 192 and PG&E Standards and Procedures. Ensure all project work incorporates industry best practices with an emphasis on safety and compliance while ensuring a reliable and cost effective end result. Provide engineering review and input on conceptual designs, design reviews, calculations, and engineering and construction documents. Communication: Proactively communicate with numerous organizations throughout PG&E, such as Transmission System Planning, Project Management, Engineering & Estimating, Land Rights, Gas Distribution Engineering and Planning, M&C, GPOM, New Business, General Construction, Real Estate Management, Materials, Applied Technical Services, Gas System Operations, etc. as well as external parties such as Cal Trans, Cities, Counties, real estate developers, landowners and construction contractors. Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory in the Bay Area region, please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need. Position will require up to approximately 10% of travel time in work schedule. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Bay Area region). May be required to have a valid California driver's license on day one of employment This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. ​ A reasonable salary range is: Bay Area Minimum: $122,000 Bay Area Maximum: $194,000 This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs. Responsibilities-

Qualifications- Minimum: BS Engineering Three (3) years of relevant experience Desired: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Civil Engineering Understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) 49CFR Part 192 codes and regulations and California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) GO 112F Professional Engineering Registration in either Mechanical or Civil Engineering or Engineer-in-Training certificate Basic understanding of the threats and risk on a pipeline Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to excel with limited guidance as well as in a team Able to work well in office or field environment Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, and Outlook Project management experience Working knowledge or experience in gas operations or gas system planning Experience in developing and administering contracts and specifications SAP experience in job ownership, materials, financials Minimum 3 year of engineering and/or experience including one or more of the following: Gas Distribution construction /field engineering Gas Transmission construction /field engineering Large diameter steel pipeline construction/field engineering
