US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED This engineering position will focus on developing and implementing the calibration solutions necessary to achieve world class EO/IR remote sensor performance.

What You'll Do: - Analyze data quality of optical payload and sub-system requirements and decompose as necessary to inform the related design, build, and test architecture and verification activities.
- Contribute to the formulation and execution of radiometric, spectral, and other calibration strategies to achieve the required mission data quality.
- Under direction of a lead, learn remote sensing payload design calibration architectures using component hardware technologies, calibration sources, calibration techniques, and uncertainty analysis.
- Collaborate on novel calibration approaches and related proposals for internal or customer funded research and development projects.
- Help create physics-based calibration models and budgets.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (systems, optical, mechanical, electrical, software, test, etc.) to execute calibration tasks.
- Interface with and support the program’s calibration lead and/or chief system engineer.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers, management and customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment. May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required. May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - Engineer II - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 5 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Familiarity in remote sensing missions, payload design, component hardware technologies, calibration sources, calibration techniques, and uncertainty analysis.
- Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to understand the team’s needs, ask insightful questions, and provide clear communication of proposed solutions.
- Flexibility and capacity to work on multiple dynamic problems simultaneously.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Degree in Physics, or Optics is preferred with related experience in either remote sensors, optics, detectors, light sources, or metrology.
- Optics/physics training with an emphasis on laboratory or other high accuracy measurement experience preferred.
- Experience in EO/IR data analysis and algorithm development preferred.
- Familiarity in computer application skills, such as DOORS, Matlab, and other analytical tools preferred.
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $111000 - $137500
