PATH BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE 

TITLE:  Verification Specialist

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Billing Director

WORK AREA: Ohio

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Verify insurance information for new patients, referrals and existing clients
  2. Verify insurance monthly and prior to each appointment
  3. Update insurance information for existing patients
  4. Call to obtain pre-authorization for recommended services and procedures
  5. Explain to patients what their financial responsibilities will be
  6. Inform relevant clinical staff about denials
  7. Answer questions related to billing and insurance
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with patients, providers and insurance companies
  9. Provide expertise and verify current insurance policies and eligibility and referral needs
  10. Maintain accurate records of interactions
  11. Effectively communicate between departments and team members
  12. Work with client on collection letters and phone calls, collecting money, and setting up payment plans 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associate degree (or equivalent experience) 

Experience/Skills:  

Physical Effort:  Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours. Requires sitting for extended periods of time, viewing computer monitors, and keyboarding.

Communication Skills:  Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate professionally via telephone and in writing. Strong grammar and writing skills are crucial for clear and concise communication with clients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.

Essential Technical/Motor Skills:   Candidates must achieve competency in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) program, telemedicine services, and any additional software programs utilized by the company, ensuring efficient access and updating of client information. The role requires fine dexterity, adept handling, and proficient gripping abilities to perform various tasks.

Background: The candidate must pass all federal and state background checks, and their educational and work history will be confirmed incompliance with company policies.
