Job description

Summary: Form plastic products using thermoforming presses, build required molds and trim sign faces

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Read and understand orders and drawings. *
  1. Read and use tape measure accurately. *
  1. Able to build molds and has excellent knowledge of mold building techniques. *
  1. Able to set up sectional molds proficiently. *
  1. Able to set up embossed faces and patterns such that they correctly register on the sign face. *
  1. Trim sign faces accurately and proficiently. *
  1. Ensure that all work orders are turned in daily and that material used and time spent on jobs are accurately accounted for. *
  1. Able to conduct daily business without supervision. *

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and up to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have strong knowledge of industry color code schemes and painting concepts.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Math Ability:

Ability to apply basic math and geometry concepts to calculate figures such as length, height & width and area, ability to calculate proportions and percentages and the ability to convert units of measure such as feet to inches or fractions to their decimal equivalent.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve complex practical problems encountered in a custom manufacturing environment where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a basic understanding of how computers are used in a manufacturing environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
