Job description

We are currently growing and looking for a talented fractional CFO to join our team. This position will be a 1099 position. We are not able to guarantee hours, as business needs change. While you may work 20 hours one week there may be times where there is no work. 

As a Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) preferably with Government Contracting Experience, you will provide high-level financial leadership and strategic guidance to a diverse portfolio of companies operating in various industries. Leveraging your expertise in government contracting and broad industry knowledge, you will support each company in optimizing financial performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving sustainable growth.

What You'll Do:

  1. Financial Strategy and Planning:

    • Collaborate with company executives to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives and growth plans.
    • Lead the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections, considering factors such as government contracts, industry trends, and market dynamics.
    • Conduct financial analysis and scenario modeling to support strategic decision-making and mitigate risks.
  2. Government Contracting Compliance:

    • Oversee compliance with government contracting regulations, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
    • Ensure accurate cost accounting and reporting for government contracts, including indirect cost allocation, overhead rates, and incurred cost submissions.
    • Liaise with government agencies, auditors, and contracting officers to address compliance issues and facilitate audits or reviews.
  3. Financial Reporting and Analysis:

    • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to assess financial performance and trends.
    • Provide meaningful insights and KPIs to company leadership to support informed decision-making and strategic planning.
    • Develop and maintain robust financial reporting processes to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Cash Flow Management:

    • Manage cash flow and liquidity for each company, optimizing working capital and ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet operational needs and financial obligations.
    • Implement cash management strategies to maximize returns on cash reserves and minimize borrowing costs.
  5. Risk Management and Internal Controls:

    • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including operational, regulatory, and market risks.
    • Establish and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard assets, ensure data integrity, and mitigate fraud or compliance breaches.
  6. Strategic Financial Partnerships:

    • Evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, or strategic partnerships, conducting financial due diligence and assessing the financial implications and risks.
    • Negotiate financing agreements, vendor contracts, and other financial arrangements to support business objectives and growth initiatives.
  7. Stakeholder Communication:

    • Communicate financial results, forecasts, and strategic initiatives to company executives, board members, investors, and other stakeholders.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to company leadership, offering financial expertise and recommendations to support business decisions and drive growth.
