Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Sales/Use Tax Leadership:
- Take the lead in collecting remitting and filing returns across approximately 30 states.
- Implement efficient processes to ensure compliance with sales/use tax regulations.
2. Personal Property Taxes Management:
- Collaborate with external advisors to file returns in approximately 30 states.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness in personal property tax reporting.
3. Real Estate Taxes Oversight:
- Collect applicable real estate taxes from tenants and manage real estate tax payments in approximately 20 states.
- Establish and maintain effective procedures for real estate tax compliance.
4. Corporate Tax Assistance:
- Provide support and assistance in corporate tax maters.
- Collaborate with the finance team to streamline corporate tax processes.
5. Strategic Collaboration:
- Work closely with the CFO and the accounting department to lead and coordinate comprehensive tax activities for the company.
- Contribute to strategic decisionmaking by providing valuable insights on tax implications.
6. Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement improvements in taxrelated functions.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Requirements
Skills:
1. Professional Experience:
- Five to ten years of progressive tax experience gained either in a reputable accounting firm or in a corporate setting.
- Strong background in tax planning compliance and reporting.
2. Educational Qualifications:
- Masters degree in business accounting or tax preferred.
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field is required.
3. Analytical Proficiency:
- Demonstrated analytical ability and keen attention to detail in taxrelated matters.
4. Organizational Acumen:
- Excellent organizational skills with the flexibility to meet reporting deadlines.
5. Communication and Leadership:
- Effective communication skills and the ability to lead and inspire a team.
- Proven experience in successfully managing and developing direct reports.
6. Technological Aptitude:
- Proficiency in relevant tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
7. Commitment to Location:
- Must be able to commute to the Springfield NJ office four days a week.
