SUMMARY

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will help build and operate a world-class manufacturing function at Intergalactic. This function is crucial to building Intergalactic's enabling technologies and products reliably, repeatably, of the highest quality, and at scale, ultimately delivering into the field. This individual will lead, develop, create, and manage all aspects of the manufacturing world at Intergalactic to help achieve all strategic, contractual, and tactical milestones from the time that a new production program is awarded to the final delivery of contracted intellectual and physical product to the customer. This role will support in driving operations through impeccable documentation for successful completion of high-quality hardware, also bear responsibility for the process's creation supporting the organization's strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long term goals.

Expected Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

  1. Design and optimize manufacturing processes: Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes and techniques for the production of aerospace systems, ensuring high quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.
  2. Process development and improvement: Continuously evaluate existing manufacturing processes, identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement, and propose and implement solutions to enhance productivity, reduce cycle time, and minimize waste.
  3. Production planning and coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, procurement, and quality assurance, to plan and schedule production activities, ensuring seamless coordination and timely completion of manufacturing tasks.
  4. Equipment selection and maintenance: Identify and recommend appropriate manufacturing equipment, tools, and technologies to optimize production processes. Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is well-maintained and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  5. Quality assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop and implement robust quality control procedures, ensuring adherence to industry standards, specifications, and regulations. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address quality issues.
  6. Cost analysis and optimization: Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and equipment, and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or delivery timelines. Implement cost-saving initiatives and monitor their effectiveness.
  7. Documentation and reporting: Create and maintain detailed manufacturing process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and production reports. Generate regular reports on manufacturing performance metrics, such as yield, efficiency, and cycle time.
  8. Continuous learning and innovation: Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing engineering. Explore and propose innovative approaches to enhance manufacturing processes and drive product improvements.
  9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, production managers, and technicians, to review product designs for manufacturability and provide input for design improvements.
  10. Supports supplier management as needed, particularly as it relates to production process and flow
  11. Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Expected Hours of Work

Salaried crew members are generally expected to work a baseline of 40 hours per week, although a priority is placed on achieving results rather than tracking time

Supervisory Responsibility

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer has limited indirect supervisory responsibility for the production team with regard to program objectives.

Physical Requirements

This role requires sitting, walking, or standing for several hours at a time. This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, open cabinets, bend, or stand on a stool as needed.

Work Environment

This job operates in an indoor office environment and routinely interacts with other crew members and customers. This role routinely uses both paper and electronic record keeping systems and communication equipment.

Travel Requirements

Occasional overnight travel is expected for this position.
