Job Description
As part of the HR Services operations team, the Payroll Manager in North America is responsible for our US and Canadian payroll services, time administration, and related processes.
The successful candidate will work in partnership with our technology teams and other process owners for compensation, benefits, and compliance across the region to ensure our time administration and pay systems are carried out timely and accurately while meeting compliance requirements for the overall organization.
The successful candidate will also work to support the integration of new businesses, and to collaborate with internal partners to solve problems and improve our processes to ensure we deliver a high-quality experience to our associates.
As the manager of our payroll team you will:
- Lead a staff of payroll professionals in Farmington Hills, MI; and in Costa Rica; providing coaching, mentoring, and leadership for the teams.
- Ensure the timely processing of monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly payrolls for 16,000+ employees using SAP and Kronos time systems
- Ensure all employees are paid accurately, and that any issues are resolved in a timely manner with positive customer service
- Manage our internal controls procedures within the department, and to work with internal and external auditors or agencies to ensure audits and requests for data are provided accurately and on a timely basis.
- Ensure the accuracy and timely filing of federal and state withholding as well as support year-end reporting obligations
- Partner with and manage key external vendors in support of the payroll and time administration processes for the region
- Represent the HR Service team on critical projects related to acquisitions, system upgrades, or other strategic initiatives.
- Travel Expectation: 10% travel

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
:
- Bachelor's degree or an Associate's degree with 8+ years of experience (as listed below)
- 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience
- 5+ years of people management experience
Preferred Qualifications
:
- Certified Payroll Professional designation (CPP) or equivalent
- Experience with SAP payroll and UKG Kronos time management systems
- Demonstrated positive communication, leadership, and customer relations skills
- Demonstrated successful project and change management skills and techniques
- Demonstrated understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws including FLSA, taxes and withholding requirements, deductions, and garnishments
- Microsoft Excel skills at an Intermediate to Advanced skill level for data analysis, forecasting, and reconciliation
- Experience with Alteryx, Microsoft PowerBI, Power Automate, or other similar desktop-level automation solutions desirable.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely at a professional level, both orally and in writing, in English
- Spanish speaking ability
