Job Description
The Manager, Tech Project Management (Commerce Project Management & Strategy) will develop and manage the technology portfolio to deliver against the technology roadmap, partnering extensively with the Commerce Technology & Digital leadership team. The manager will lead a team of technical project managers to optimize a large development and sustainment portfolio of work ($300M+). The manager will apply knowledge of Agile methodologies and technology delivery practices to produce strategic, financial, and resource plans that position the technology teams to Power the Magic.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning and prioritization for the project management team; provide deliverables for key financial milestones (Long Term Plan, Annual Capital Plan, Annual Operating Plan); ensure our financial plans enable delivery of the technology roadmap.
- Manage the prioritization and funding of the Commerce roadmap based on business value and priorities.
- Aggregate capabilities from multiple technology investment programs to present an integrated roadmap.
- Develop an understanding of both the business and technology organizational goals and create a partnership committed to success.
- Partner with Technology executives and business leaders to understand their strategic objectives, transform them into value-driven technology initiatives, and communicate them back in business language.
- Create a continuous view of resource demand and capacity across the portfolio and proactively plan for leveled resource allocation across technology development and sustainment activities.
- Communicate program performance for executive consumption; increase transparency of risks and opportunities to drive portfolio decisions and actions.
- Work across Technology and Digital to ensure partnership and transparency in portfolio and project management.
- Partner with PMO to ensure that Commerce project and sustainment activities operate within the approved budget; identify risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Proactively identify integration opportunities across a diverse set of clients and partners; ensure all impacted partners regularly interact together (e.g., leading regular forums).
- Build and foster relationships across Technology and Digital and supporting businesses.
- Ensure project reporting and process are streamlined and exceed standards across project teams.
- Refine and build new processes and provide feedback on current processes/templates for portfolio management, project reporting, and project management.
- Inspire, motivate, and lead a team to go above and beyond delivering value to Technology & Digital and our business partners.
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years’ experience in technical project management or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience leading people/direct reports.
- Solid understanding of technical program/project management (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and experience in technology project delivery (including estimation, project planning, resource planning, issue management, risk management, change management, communication planning.)
- Experience with financial management processes such as long term planning, project budgeting and forecasting.
- Executive presence and excellent communication skills with ability to tell a compelling story when communicating to Senior Leadership.
- Extensive experience working in a highly matrixed organization and interacting with SVP/VP level audience.
- Practical experience in product-oriented organizations using agile methodologies.
- Strategic thinker that is able to connect business outcomes to technology solutions, strong collaborator, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization; this includes written, verbal, visualizations/deck building and facilitation skills.
- Proven ability to successfully operate in a highly matrix organization with a diverse set of clients; demonstrated influence vertically and horizontally along with strong interpersonal, partnering, negotiating, and consensus-building skills.
- Proven experience in leading and building effective teams.
- Proven experience in influencing business and technology leadership to drive positive lasting outcomes.
- Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities with the ability to think creatively beyond typical constraints.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Understanding of value-driven business outcomes and metrics.
- Expert proficiency in office productivity software and tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or related advanced degree or equivalent
- Extensive experience with industry standard PPM tools; CA Clarity PPM experience preferred; reporting tool(s) experience preferred.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a technology, business-related discipline, communication, or equivalent exp.
