Job description
Pediatrics Hospitalist Opportunity in Beautiful East Texas!
Opportunity to build a collaborative pediatric hospitalist program! We are partnering with the local hospitals to create an inpatient pediatric hospitalist service. This creative collaboration includes players from both local hospital systems, the new medical school, and our FQHC clinic system.
About our practice:
Family Circle of Care is a Federally qualified health center (FQHC) in Tyler, TX with satellite offices in Jacksonville and Athens, TX, serving over 30,000 unique patients per year.
Highlights:
- Collaborative plan will include Physician/ APC teams that cover at one hospital for pediatric inpatient services including newborn and general pediatrics care.
- Shift work for work /life balance: proposed schedule will be 4 days (Monday-Thursday) on followed by 7 days off. Then 3 days (Friday-Sunday) on followed by 7 more days off. APC would staff during the day shift and physician would cover for 24 hours but nights would likely be mostly telephone coverage from home.
- Position will be employed by Family Circle of Care as part of this collaborative team.
- Family Circle of Care clinic system includes OBGYN, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, mental health, and dental services.
- The OB department delivers an average of 112 babies per month.
- Hospital has a Level 3 NICU that is staffed 24/7.
- 20 bed pediatric unit
- Newly expanded emergency room with its own pediatric wing.
- Hospital does not have a PICU currently but there is planning for one in the future. Patients needing PICU services are usually transferred to hospitals in the DFW area.
- Expanding pediatric specialist services in town. The options continue to grow, especially with the new medical school.
- Teaching opportunities – the new UT medical school opened in Summer 2023. We already partner with residency programs in other departments. This hospitalist service will have medical student teaching service and possibly residents with family medicine and/or pediatrics.
- 403B retirement program with up to 5% match
- Making a difference – as an FQHC, we see patients with Medicaid, uninsured with a sliding scale based on income, as well as privately insured patients.
- Having our clinic system as a medical home for patients helps with arranging outpatient follow up for all patients regardless of ability to pay, type of insurance or immigration status.
- EPIC EMR with all major systems in the community connected with Care Everywhere.
- Family Circle of Care received the Gold Quality award in 2022 and 2023, which places us in the top 10% of community health centers nationwide for quality measures. We also received recognition for improving patient access and reducing health disparities. We are also a Patient Centered Medical Home.
