The Physical Therapist Assistant provides age-appropriate services for adult to geriatric patients, under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist. The PTA assists in carrying out the treatment plan to individuals and groups as designed by the Physical Therapist, supervises treatment delivered by the PTA student or technician, provides patient/family instruction, participates in PI programs and documents services according to facility and department policies and procedures. This position involves direct patient care.
Responsibilities \n - Utilizes equipment in a proper and safe manner, maintains equipment inspection, maintenance, and cleaning logs, and reports broken or faulty equipment.
\n - Follows medical regimen developed for the patient, aware of and adheres to precautions (THR, TKR, Cardiac, Wound, etc.)
\n - Utilizes safe treatment techniques including the following: transfers, positioning, feeding, splinting, paraffin bath, cryotherapy, etc.
\n - Utilizes treatment approaches according to established PT protocols and policies.
\n - Documents each patient visit on the appropriate visit note in the EMR.
\n - Documents units of treatment for each visit in the EMR.
\n - Serves as a member of the Performance Improvement team
\n - Actively participates in Department Team meetings
\n - Participates in weekend and holiday rotation as needed
\n - Participates in student supervision as indicated
\n - Assists in the interview process for new therapy department employees as needed
\n - Any other duties as assigned
\n
Education and Experience \n - Experience: Less than 6 months
\n - License, Registration, and / or Certification Requirement: Yes
\n - CPR certification and all other certificates and documents as required by LHC Group policy.
\n - Current Physical Therapy Assistant License in state of practice
\n - Membership or certification in national association (as applicable). Skill Requirement
\n - Must be willing to accept all other duties as assigned.
