Job Summary:
Senior Planning and Delivery Analyst
Disney Entertainment and ESPN Technology (DE&E Technology) provide the technological backbone and product development for Disney’s two media business units, while helping to keep the company at the vanguard of innovation – enabling the company to continuously leverage technology to enhance storytelling and creativity, while delivering scalability, flexibility, and efficiency for its businesses.
The Planning and Delivery Operations team partners closely with the Strategic Planning & Analysis team (SP&A), Portfolio, Finance, Global Program Management (GPM) and leads within our Technology pillars to logistically manage and orchestrate essential business workflows across the organization. This function includes resource capacity planning, identifying and facilitating budgeting and financial setup, and delivery governance during and after project execution.
The Sr. Analyst is a hands-on role that gathers requirements from stakeholders, proposes solutions, and builds reporting and tooling to support the agreed upon solutions. This role will be responsible for building and supporting data structures and tooling used for presenting analysis and forecasting by the Technology Planning and Operations team. The position requires collaboration with and support of other technology teams as well as excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
The Sr. Analyst will develop and maintain frameworks and procedures to produce reporting data in both static and real-time formats while maintaining the highest quality and accuracy. The candidate will have experience implementing tools and reporting solutions to drive operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert on operational reporting tools & data environment
- Collaborate with stakeholders to determine gaps in resource & capacity planning needs
- Develop and support detailed analytics, tracking, and reporting of initiatives, projects, capacity planning, and resource management
- Track and report on key performance metrics
- Perform data and compliance audits on a variety of areas such as standardization and timely reporting to ensure consistency and accuracy
- System admin and support responsibilities for planning tools that are managed by the team
- Conduct training on planning tools to enable other team members to become informed and self-proficient
- Gather data to support detailed modeling of capacity planning and metrics from statistically confident projections to provide insight into future staffing-related needs
- Assist in defining, establishing, and implementing enhancements to operational processes, procedural documentation, and tool requirements
- Provide support to Product Strategy, Program, and Portfolio teams across the organization
- Identify areas of opportunity for data improvement and operational tactics that improve performance throughout the initiative lifecycle
- Create presentations that summarize analytics and tell a story for management review
- Measure initiative performance throughout the Initiative Lifecycle including schedule, costs, risks, issues, and project forecasts
- Collaborate with project teams, resource managers, and project leaders on resource needs and identify resource constraints when they arise
- Identify, track, and help resolve cross-portfolio dependencies and conflicts
- Support Technology Planning and Operations framework, governance, and processes
- Support the completion of special projects and deliver ad-hoc requests as required
Basic Qualifications
- At least 5+ years of combined experience in business data analytics, reporting, and operations
- Knowledge of IT portfolio, product, project management, and resource and capacity planning
- Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization
- Must be a team player who is motivated, disciplined, flexible, and able to work effectively in collaborative and autonomous environments
- Exhibit critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities with strong attention to detail
- Understand the strategic objectives to integrate seemingly disparate goals into a broader plan for synchronized, harmonious execution while delivering high value to the organization
- Ability to work and adapt to a fast-paced dynamic environment with consistent change
- Solid understanding of technology and business to tell the ‘story’ behind the data
- Ability to create and present materials to management to drive decision-making and tell a compelling story
- Experience compiling data and building reports/dashboards with BI visualization tools
- Possess solid computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Exhibit advanced Excel / Google Sheets knowledge including complex formulas
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with JIRA, Airtable, Snowflake (SQL) and Tableau
- Prior experience in Media/Entertainment is a plus, but not a prerequisite
- Familiarity with data modeling and predictive analytics
Required Education
- Bachelors in Business Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, and/or related experience
The hiring range for this position in California is $112,600 to $165,400 per year and in New York and Washington is $118,000 to $158,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
