COORDINATOR, INFORMAL RECREATION AND PROGRAMMING SPECIALIST

With a dual reporting line to the Assistant Director of Facility Operations and Assistant Director of Aquatics and Safety Education, the coordinator is responsible for aspects of University Recreation operations that pertain to informal recreation activities, back of house support, and at set times, providing support for Swim School.

Responsibilities

Quality Control (50%)

Develop maintenance plan to manage more than 1,400 lockers throughout 2 facilities and provide feedback on best practices. Responsible for maintaining proper inventory of all UREC pro-shop and equipment rental and purchasing additional supplies when needed. Conduct monthly safety assessments of operations to include the cataloging of accident/incidents.

Administrative Support (30%)

Responsible for informal recreation scheduling that includes programs that build a sense of belonging for UREC members. Assist in the program registration using campus recreation software to include but not limited to; aquatic programming, conference events, other campus partners. The focus shifts from April through July as this position has more responsibility related to Swim School. These duties could include assisting with registrations, course scheduling, and communicating with instructors as needed.

Departmental Support (10%)

Ensures accuracy with processing and managing of accidents and incident reports and are catalogued appropriately. Provides feedback regarding departmental programs, equipment, and experiences by engaging in programs and experiences. Contributes positively to the work environment by participating in dialog that is indicative of the division’s and the unit’s culture of teamwork and cooperation.

Other Duties as Assigned (10%)

Other duties as assigned by UREC leadership or Assistant Director of Facility Operations or Assistant Director of Aquatics. This includes but not limited to efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services Finals Testing, other special projects, etc.

Ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours. We support, when appropriate, the ability to have a flexible work schedule. This position and/or position's responsibilities require work directly with minors. Finger printing and National Sex Offender Registry check required per FASOP HR-04. As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services.
