Job Summary

The College of Liberal Arts, School of Psychological Science, invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 9-month, tenure-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position position (depending on qualifications).

Appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate rank is anticipated; however, appointment at the rank of full Professor may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. Any hiring at the rank of Associate Professor/Full Professor with indefinite tenure will be subject to a successful out-of-cycle tenure review process: .

The School of Psychological Science resides in the College of Liberal Arts. The primary mission of the School is undergraduate and graduate education and research. The School offers BA and BS degrees, an undergraduate minor, and a Ph.D. in Psychology.

This position is part of a multi-disciplinary investment in the College to strengthen capacity for large-scale, interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research in emerging media and technology through tenure line hires. Consistent with OSU’s new Strategic Plan, this line is one of two current tenure-line searches that support building transdisciplinary teams in areas of strategic focus and turning our foundational strengths into accelerated applications with far-reaching, lasting public value. We welcome new colleagues who can help define big discoveries that drive big solutions, in areas such as but not limited to robotics, AI, telehealth care, biotechnology, ethics, data science, and diversity science.

We seek a colleague who focuses on emerging technologies relevant to clinical psychology (e.g., VR clinical interventions, tele-health interventions for people who lack access to mental health care, human-computer interaction).

In the School of Psychological Science, we recognize the social barriers that have systematically marginalized and excluded people based on race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, sexual identity, socioeconomic background, age, disability, national origin, religion, being members of first nations or other indigenous communities, and other identities. We are committed to the equity of opportunities and strive to promote and advance diverse communities through our scholarship, teaching, and service. We value and proactively seek participation from members of these under-represented and under-served groups and recognize them as essential members of a rich academic and cultural environment. Additionally, our School prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion goals so that we may more effectively teach, advise, and mentor a diverse student body, and enhance the scope and impact of our health-related research and curricula. Therefore, candidates should describe demonstrable skills, experience, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the research and teaching statement portions of their application.
