About the Role & Team
The Merchandise Systems & Analytics team is part of Disney’s CPGP (Consumer Products, Gaming and Publishing) team, which creates and sells Disney product around the globe! We are currently seeking a Senior Data Scientist who will lead, analyze, and engineer extensive datasets, generating top-tier actionable business insights through advanced predictive models across brick & mortar as well as e-commerce platforms.
This role will report to the Sr. Manager Retail Analytics and can be based in Orlando, FL or Glendale, CA.
What You Will Do
You'll be a mentor to the Data Science team, providing technical expertise and guiding analytics projects, fostering cross-functional collaboration to meet internal client data needs!
- Provide leadership and set strategic vision and direction for the data science team, focused on Omni Channel analysis across both Brick-and-Mortar and E-commerce.
- Lead cross-functional teams, collaborating with Analysts, Technical Partners, and Business Leaders to establish a development roadmap based on business priorities.
- Lead solution engineering sessions, aligning strategies with business drivers, challenges, and long-term goals.
- Design efficient data pipelines to address business issues, leveraging technical tools and retail systems.
- Set and implement Data Science team best practices and conduct code reviews for team members.
- Craft compelling visuals, graphs, and charts that resonate with data, tailoring them to different audiences.
- Employ advanced analytics techniques (machine learning, AI, deep learning, clustering) leveraging both structured and unstructured data to drive actionable insights.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience crafting Analytics, Statistical, and Machine Learning models to extract insights and address business challenges.
- 3+ years’ retail experience within data science or analytical teams, i.e. Consumer Insights, Category Analytics, Price Optimization, Promotion Optimization, Assortment Optimization
- Proficiency in web analytics, customer segmentation, A/B testing, and experimentation leveraging data to drive informed decisions and enhance online experiences.
- Skill in simplifying intricate problems, crafting data-driven narratives for decision-making.
- Professional communication skills for effective team and individual interaction.
- Data pipelines and ETL tools (e.g., SQL, SSIS, Knime, Alteryx, Tableau Prep)
- Database platforms including Snowflake and SQL Server
- Scripting languages (e.g., Snowscript, JavaScript, VBA, Python)
- Statistical and Data Science languages (e.g., R, SAS, Python for Data Science)
- Cloud platform/tech proficiency.
- Familiarity with advanced analytics methodologies (e.g., regression analysis, clustering, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, p-values, causal inference, Random Forest, Bagging, Boosting, Time Series).
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred familiarity with various project management methodologies (waterfall, agile, scrum).
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science.

The hiring range for this position in Orlando, FL is $117,998 to $158,290 per year and in Glendale, CA is $123,902 to $166,210 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
