Tax Analyst

Richemont | Shelton, CT

Role Overview

Sales tax analyst will assist with sales tax compliance for the US and Canada. The role will report to the Sales Tax Manager and work out of Shelton, CT.

Responsibilities (or Mission)

• Assist with preparation of monthly sales tax compliance for the US and Canada.  Gather and review monthly sales data from SAP. Confirm reporting in Avalara is correct.
• Assist with sales and use tax audits.  Prepare responses to information request by pulling data from SAP and requesting additional support form other functions.  Review proposed assessments. 
• Prepare use tax accrual calculation for construction projects.  Review invoices received to ensure proper sales tax has been paid or use tax accrual has been booked.  Provide required adjustments to Accounting and assist as needed when they book the entries.
• Assist with running 3 use tax accrual transactions in SAP for inventory movements and gratis items on a monthly basis for the US and Canada.  Confirm use tax is being assessed on proper transaction types and that the correct tax rate is utilized based on the jurisdiction of the transaction. 
• Assist with preparation of sales tax and business licenses applications and renewals.
• Participate in SAP key user testing.  Review transactions and process in test environment. Document and communicate issues as needed.  Provide IT team with accurate tax law information to ensure updates are in line with local tax law.
• Prepare various non-income tax forms as needed (California Tourism, California Environmental, Nevada Modified Business Tax, San Francisco Gross Receipts, New York Commercial Rent, etc.)
• Respond to boutique inquires as needed.

Qualifications

• 4 - 5 Years experience with Multistate Sales Tax Compliance, Research and Audits
• Proficient knowledge of SAP
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to meet multiple deadlines
