POSITION TITLE: Administrator

WORKING TITLE: Administrator - WAKE Up and Read

 

SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT: Literacy Programs and Office of Early Learning

 

LOCATION: Crossroads II, Cary, NC

 

PAY GRADE: Administrator, Band 4

 

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

 

REPORTS TO: Director - Literacy Programs

 

WORK WEEK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (several evenings and Saturdays per month)

 

WORK HOURS: 8am - 5pm; evenings and weekend hours necessary

 

NUMBER OF MONTHS PER YEAR: 12

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Leads and coordinates the goals and activities of the WAKE Up and Read Coalition. Collaborates and serves as a liaison between agencies/community groups and Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) to increase the amount of efforts relating to students reading by 3rd grade. Represents the WAKE Up and Read Coalition as the local affiliate of the State and National Campaign of Grade Level Reading, coordinating and ensuring alignment for the Coalition. Grant funding for this position is subject to renewal on an annual basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serves as liaison with partner organizations, program staff, and community stakeholders to fulfill program goals and objectives related to WAKE Up and Read.
  2. Communicates goals, outcomes, and values to community stakeholders and potential partners about WAKE Up and Read; establishes a clear communication plan.
  3. Schedules and facilitates meetings, provides regular informational updates, and coordinates trainings with existing and new partners and volunteers focused on early literacy efforts.
  4. Represents WAKE Up and Read Coalition at community events.
  5. Manages the data collection, evaluation, and monitoring of the WAKE Up and Read Coalition.
  6. Collaborates closely with Office of Early Learning, Office of Grants, Elementary Team, and community partners to align efforts and messaging around grade level reading by grade 3.
  7. Coordinates the development of WAKE Up and Read materials through the action teams.
  8. Develops, updates, and maintains the WAKE Up and Read website and social media.
  9. Leads the development of an aligned focus of WAKE Up and Read strategies and communicates the message through an ongoing public awareness campaign.
  10. Leads coordination and implementation of the annual WAKE Up and Read Book Drive.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to use a variety of office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to twenty-five pounds. The work requires driving automotive equipment. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for medium work.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to work in an office environment and come into direct contact with school system staff, parents, external agencies, community groups, and the public.
