Executive Director and Associate Dean, Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science

St. John's University

The Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science (GSRM) at St. John's University is a globally recognized and nationally ranked institution providing degree-granting programs to both undergraduate and graduate students undertaking academic and experiential studies in risk-and insurance- related disciplines. GSRM is home to all risk and insurance related activities at St. John's, including the Insurance Leader of the Year (ILOTY) annual event, the Ellen Thrower Center for Internship, Apprenticeship & Career Placement and numerous other industry and student focused events.

GSRM is unique within St. John's University in that it is the result of the merger in 2001 of the former long-standing, independent, College of Insurance with St. John's; a merger that preserved and maintained intact an industry-facing stewardship structure consisting of an independent, volunteer Board of Overseers (Board) comprised of senior executives drawn from top companies and firms in the global (re) insurance and risk management industry.

This position is responsible to the University and Board alike for stewarding the overall health, development, and success of GSRM. This position serves as the administrative leader of GSRM, coordinating closely with the academic chair of the GSRM department, and reporting to the Dean of the Peter J. Tobin College of Business. Given the fundraising and external relations responsibilities described below, this position works closely with St. John's Vice President for Advancement and University Relations.

The role's key responsibilities include:

Required Education and Experience:

Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in academic management and programs; deep experience in the global (re) insurance and risk management industry; extensive relationships with executives throughout the industry; and effective requisite people and leadership skills to operate in both an academic and corporate board environment.

Compensation will be competitive to similar positions at other schools of risk management and will include a standard St. John's University Benefit Package.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual/hourly salary range for this position is $190,000 - $212,000. St. John's University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

This position may be relocated to any of St. John's University's physical locations at any time.

St. John's offers a competitive compensation program which is commensurate with your qualifications, experience, and contingent upon the departmental budget. We also offer an extremely comprehensive benefits program to meet the diverse needs of our workforce. Along with exceptional benefits such as medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, tuition remission, generous 403(b) employer contribution, employee assistance program, and liberal paid time off policies, faculty and staff can also enjoy St. John's performing arts, libraries, bookstores, dining facilities, campus recreation and sporting events

Any offer of employment is subject to receipt by St. John's University of satisfactory references, verification of employment and education.

St. John's University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from women and minorities. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national or ethnic origin, age, status as an individual with a disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
