Job description
The Saratoga Sun in Saratoga, Wyoming has an immediate opening for an editor/publisher. Who are we: The Saratoga Sun has been the newspaper of the Upper North Platte River Valley since 1888, making it one of the few newspapers founded prior to Wyoming statehood remaining in operation today. In the past decade, the Saratoga Sun has won awards from the Wyoming Press Association for general excellence and editorial excellence. It has also taken home the most or second most individual awards of any small-weekly newspaper in the state. Who are you: You are someone who is ready for the next step: leading a team of your own in the day-to-day operations of an award winning newspaper. You’re able to lead a small team of committed individuals, edit copy and work with designers to paginate a weekly newspaper. You are not only community-minded and community-driven, but ready to help be the voice of the community. Where are we: The Platte Valley is an outdoor-enthusiasts paradise. It is home to two blue ribbon trout fisheries—the North Platte River and the Encampment River—and 2.9 million acres of National Forest land. It also has some of the most coveted hunting areas in Wyoming, free natural hot springs and an active downtown. What we offer: A full-time position with a flexible schedule and the ability to produce your best work and the support you need to obtain success. We also offer matching 401(k) and paid time off after one year. What we expect: An editor/publisher in our small weekly should be able to do a little bit of everything. This includes helping to cover high school prep sports and local government meetings, writing editorials on important topics impacting the community, planning and creating special sections and directing the day-to-day of the newspaper.
