Job description
Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA), the Regions number one mobility provider, is looking to fill the Payroll Coordinator position. Working at CDTA, you will be a part of a team that provides essential services to the Capital Region.
The Payroll Coordinator will assist in preparation and processing of all CDTA payroll including deductions, accruals, and other related functions. Performing the various payroll functions including the printing of checks.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Weekly transfers of electronic files for direct deposit, deferred compensation, check registers, reconciliation, etc.
- Prepare weekly and monthly A/P vouchers for CDTA’s weekly payroll related to taxes and net payroll along with the reconciliation of monthly deductions.
- Prepare, process and reconcile state, local and federal garnishments. CDTA’s primary contact with said agencies for inquiries.
- Record, update and maintain employees’ income executions and child support.
- Process all payroll changes including new employee forms along with deductions, accruals, and health insurances.
- Prepare and submit various internal and external agency requests for earnings and employment verifications. Also provide employees with information and/or documentation upon request.
- Generate manual checks when necessary.
- Assist in audits of Authority timesheets.
- Perform weekly and year end sick, personal, birthday, United Way, Gold Day and vacation leave accruals for all Union employees.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports to the Union and act as main contact regarding Union employee’s deductions and pay.
- Track and enter all employee arrears in the appropriate payroll for company reimbursement.
- Comprehension of the ATU Contract regarding policies, procedures, and updates.
- Update employee out of work spreadsheet weekly for internal and external inquiries.
- Back-up for payroll operations and the Payroll Manager for illness, vacations, etc.
Requirements: - Three years experience in computer-based payroll operations in a mid-large organization.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Associate degree in Accounting or Finance is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in Munis software a plus.
Working Conditions - Normal office setting.
- May be required to work occasional non-business hours.
Salary Range:
Grade 613 $50,375-$57,931/salary
