Job Title: Transportation Department Manager
Location: Round Rock, TX (Austin)
Salary: $150,000 - $200,000
Responsibilities:
The Transportation Department Manager will be responsible for the growth and success of the Transportation Practice for the Round Rock office. Specific responsibilities include:
- Leadership: Leading and growing a dynamic team of engineers and designers in all aspects of design and plan preparation for roadway, highway, and interstate improvement projects for TxDOT and other local clients in Texas.
- Project Delivery: Delivering projects per agreed-to plan, budget, program, and quality objectives. This includes leading, assigning, and reviewing work of the project delivery team, providing technical guidance and oversight for transportation projects, checking work and progress, and identifying changes of scope and additional services as needed.
- Staff Development: Mentoring and developing staff members, as well as overseeing budgets and schedules.
- Client Relationship Management: Providing strategic planning while building and maintaining relationships with key client decision-makers, staying ahead of upcoming project advertisements, and changes in clients' organizations.
- Business Development: Leading proposal strategies, content development, etc., and participating in the business development process to win work.
- Community Involvement: Being a visible and active member of the transportation community through involvement in professional organizations.
Requirements
Professional Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas.
- 15+ years of interstate, highway, or roadway design experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- 10+ years in a supervisory role.
- Direct relationships and contacts with TxDOT, regional authority, and municipal clients.
- TxDOT pre-certifications required.
- Experience and understanding of Microstation and OpenRoads Designer.
- Demonstrated supervisor and mentoring skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentation skills, public speaking ability, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience overseeing successful project delivery with a drive for quality product and financial excellence.
- Proven track record of leading winning proposals.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
