Turner Industries accepting resumes for NCCER / NCCCO Certified Riggers for a maintenance site in Norco, LA.

• No Per Diem Available-Ideal for local candidates
• NCCER Certified Plus or NCCO Certification, required
• Will be expected to compete forlkift certification on-site, prior forklift operation experience preferred
• Must be able to pass DISA pre-employment drug screen and background check

General Job Description:

Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material on construction projects.

Functional Requirements:

Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved. Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps. Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hook. Gives directions to equipment operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of workers and material handles, using hand signals, loudspeaker or telephone. Sets up, braces and rigs hoisting equipment. Splices rope and wire to make repair slings and tackles. May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment into ships, railroad cars or trucks. Performs other duties as needed.

Qualification Standards:

• Minimum of Four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
• Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the work place

Tools/Equipment:

Employee may be required to provide the following: tool box, crescent wrenches, tape, spud wrenches, hammer, tri square, striker, burning goggles, tip cleaners, work gloves, framing square, level, torpedo level, center punch, channel locks, set of combination wrenches, pipe wrench, hacksaw, rain suit.

Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.

Mental Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards.

Work Environment Factors:

• Location: industrial construction sites
• Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas
• Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
