Job description
This position facilitates a wide range of innovative, evidence based strategies to assist adults with autism and other developmental disabilities with obtaining employment in a wide variety of industries. Responsible for assisting job seekers with obtaining sustainable independent community based employment matching individual preferences, interests, needs and strengths. Responsible for fostering and maintaining positive and professional relationships with business partners, community organizations and potential employers.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Visit employers for the purpose of Job Development for placement of job seekers in competitive and supported employment as well as for career exploration purposes.
- Provide information on hiring incentives to local employers with the purpose of marketing Foundation vocational services as a resource
- Work collaboratively with local business organizations and community organizations to coordinate and facilitate recruitment days, employer panels and targeted job fairs
- Inform job seekers of potential openings and provide job skills training as needed
- Provide ongoing support and encouragement to job seekers to ensure their active participation in the employment process
- Responsible for required administrative tasks related to the position including the development/maintenance of a resource/contact list of business and industry representatives to support position initiatives
This position requires the ability to potentially work some evenings or weekends to accommodate client support needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field
- Two-three years experience developing similar partnerships or equivalent experience in business development, sales, human resources, or talent acquisition
- Knowledge of job development and job placement techniques as well a knowledge of ADA and Equal Employment laws
- Outstanding communication, time management, and computer skills (to include data collection tools)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in working with individuals with autism and/or developmental disorders
Work Environment:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment however travel to employers' locations throughout Palm Beach County is required.
