Job description
Our client, a leading global automotive tier 1 manufacturing company, is seeking a skilled Materials Manager to join their team. The Materials Manager will oversee the efficient flow of materials throughout the facility, encompassing purchasing, receiving, shipping, warehousing, scheduling, and inventory control functions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain an accurate perpetual inventory of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
- Optimize machine and workstation scheduling to enhance productivity.
- Regularly assess production requirements and available capacity, recommending necessary actions.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures and policies.
- Monitor and manage the fiscal expense budget of the Materials Department.
- Lead initiatives related to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Total Productive Systems (TPS).
- Develop and implement programs aimed at cash management and inventory reduction goals.
- Generate monthly reports and Quality Operating System (QOS) data.
- Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) system for finished goods, raw materials, and components.
- Maintain warehouse equipment and facilities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and its customers.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness in shipping and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes.
- Supervise scheduling, planning, procurement, shipping, receiving, and data entry personnel within the Materials Department.
Who Will Be a Great Fit?
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with five-plus years of related experience, including supervisory roles, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, inventory software, and manufacturing systems, particularly Oracle.
- Experience with EDI, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Manufacturing Data Systems (MDS), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with corporate headquarters and counterparts at other facilities.
- Prior experience in the manufacturing industry, with automotive industry experience being advantageous.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen, continuous improvement, TPM, and TPS.
