Job description

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

Review new bid plans and documents and create and submit bids to our commercial contractors.

Assists with managing the bid calendar, preparing bid documents.

Prepares and organizes general contractor bidding documents into the estimating software programs in accordance with the estimating department’s bidding and scheduling procedures.

Analyzes and evaluates specifications, drawings, blueprints and other information to prepare for material and labor estimates.

Reviews and marks architectural plans using the estimating software program, highlighting pertinent pages, elevations, keynotes, narratives, unique hardware/finishes and other project-specific information.

Communicates with general contractors, gathering necessary information such as clarifications, finishes and other related bidding details.

Drafts and sends requests for quotes to vendors, including specific details needed to receive accurate pricing.

Updates files as new construction documents are issued throughout the bid process.

Prepares awarded projects by gathering and compiling data for use in creating a work order, and inputting data into the estimating and project software programs.

Assists in maintaining communications with general contractors and vendors throughout the project as it relates to rebidding, change orders and other bidding-related details.

Participates in reviewing completed bids, and developing and maintaining historical cost data to build knowledge of bidding techniques and processes.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed and directed.

Qualifications and Skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks and hard deadlines.

General knowledge of commercial construction, including exposure to millwork and casework, bidding and estimating is preferred but not required.

Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications and blueprints.

Ability to sufficiently perform basic and applicable mathematical calculations.

Proficient in the use of standard office computer programs such as Microsoft Office, and operate basic office equipment such as printer, copier, phone, calculator.

Ability to learn new software.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Working Environment

Performance of duties will be in the office space; with flexible hours between 40-50 depending on the work load.

Duties also require the ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.

Normal operating hours are between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Schedule to be negotiated with Manager to ensure flexibility.
