- Develops PMP Checklists which are used by dealers and customers to perform maintenance.
- Gathers information from the Operation & Maintenance Manuals and through direct contact with Technical Information Division and Product Group personnel.
- Compiles checklists which contain between 150 and 300 steps or procedures, depending upon the machine or engine model, and includes maintenance or inspection procedures to be performed at each maintenance interval from daily through 2000 hours of operation.
- Makes an estimate of the labor required to perform each checklist step and determines and lists parts and tools required for each step, which Dealers use to calculate the cost of maintenance agreements they offer to customers.
- Machine owners use the checklists to plan maintenance and assure that it is performed. Each machine and engine model requires an accurate PMP checklist as soon as possible after first production.
- Provides input for periodic upgrades to the PMP software and demonstrates the PMP software and instructs dealer and Mercedes Benz personnel in its use.
- Develops S-O-S Machine & Engine Profiles which are used by dealer S-O-S Oil Analysis personnel to interpret the results of S-O-S oil and coolant samples to assure accurate analysis.
- Uses information from Operation & Maintenance Manuals, Spec logs and direct contact with Products Group personnel.
- Provides an accurate profile for each newly released machine and engine model as soon as possible after first production.
- The position is a specialist within the group and provides interpretation and problem-solving advice to others inside and outside of the department.
- Typical internal customers include various contacts throughout Mercedes Benz worldwide and its subsidiaries. External contacts include various customers and vendors throughout worldwide markets. Most of the problems faced by the position are like those faced before and follow a pattern. The incumbent resolves issues by selecting the best solution from a few choices.
- Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, etc.
- The position works to develop innovative processes or methods to best use resources or technology in meeting the quality goals.
- Limited travel required (Less than 5% of working time).
- Associate degree in engineering technology or related field required. 2-4 years’ experience required.
- Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Team player and detail oriented.
- Basic ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
- Basic ability to perform details calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction and installation standards and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
- Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to engineering field.
