Job description

We are seeking an experienced refinery operations manager to take on the leadership of a burgeoning renewable diesel biofuels facility as they transition to new products.

The refinery manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, along with the production of the renewable fuels facility, located near Reno, Nevada.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Leads the operations and maintenance staff, manages equipment, logistics (loading and shipping of feed stock and finished product), budgets, KPI’s, and expenses associated with multiple continuous oil processing lines.

· Plans, organizes and directs the manufacturing and maintenance operations which ensure the most effective return on assets.

· Initiates plans and processes which minimize operating costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.

· Assures attainment of business objectives and production schedules while ensuring product and quality standards that will exceed our customers’ expectations.

· Reduces costs and improves efficiency in all processing operations.

· Develops financial controls and demonstrates continuous improvement in KPIs.

· Selects and trains supervisory and administrative staff.

REQUIREMENTS

· Should have a minimum of 10 years management and supervisory experience in plant operations with a minimum of 5 years in renewable diesel, SAF, or edible oil industry.

· Should have post-secondary education with a degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or other engineering field, or combination of education and related senior level plant management experience.

· Leadership ability to manage an area of up to 100 employees, with demonstrated skills in communication and organization.

· Working knowledge of different CMMS systems is helpful.

· While company travel will be limited, should have ability to travel.

· Should have ability to navigate the facility operations, including ability to work at heights, walk reasonable distances, and lift occasional weights.

· Role requires prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be willing to work flexible schedules as needed, including nights and/or weekends as job duties demand.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

· The Refinery Plant Manager will have a strong understanding of how each production process works and be ready to implement changes as necessary.

· Establishes group and individual accountabilities for safety leadership, problem solving and cost reduction. Works effectively through others to achieve positive results.

· Develops and maintains an open line of communication with employees by demonstrating credibility, willingness to listen, and acting when appropriate.

· Assures a positive employment and employee relations environment.

· Maintains individual skills keeping up to date with latest production and production management concepts.

· Operates the refinery at the highest levels of efficiency by managing equipment reliability and OEE and managing refinery spending and expenses to minimum levels required to meet business strategy.

· Ensures that the product being manufactured meets company’s and customers’ standards, policies and practices through the proper implementation and maintenance of all aspects of quality systems such as SQF, HACCP, GMP, AIB, and other company systems.

· Maintains clean and safe plant/refinery areas. Provides injury-free work environment for employees, staff, contractors, and visitor through engagement, JHAs, training programs, good work practices, company standards, and proactive elimination of exposures. Continually improves safety record by addressing both physical and safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintains and improves housekeeping in all areas.
